Key Features

1) Head-to-Toe HD+ Video (1536p): see visitors and packages

Battery Doorbell Plus uses a taller Head-to-Toe view with 1536p HD+ so you can see more of what’s happening from the doorstep down to the floor—helpful for spotting deliveries placed close to the door.

2) Color Night Vision for clearer nighttime check-ins

When it gets dark, Color Night Vision helps you identify what’s happening at your door with better clarity than standard black-and-white night vision (lighting conditions still matter).

3) Advanced Motion Detection + Custom Motion Zones

You can fine-tune where motion is detected using Customizable Motion Zones, helping reduce unwanted alerts from sidewalks, streets, or moving trees.

4) Two-Way Talk + Quick Replies

Speak to visitors from your phone using Two-Way Talk, and use Quick Replies when you can’t get to the door (Ring notes Quick Replies are English-only in some regions).

5) Person + Package detection (subscription required)

Battery Doorbell Plus supports Person and Package detection, but Ring states a compatible Ring subscription is required (terms apply).

Power Options

(Battery, Hardwiring, Plug-in, Solar)

Battery-powered convenience (removable Quick-Release Battery Pack)

The included Quick-Release Battery Pack is removable—so you can swap/charge without taking the whole doorbell down (great if you keep a spare battery).

Hardwire to existing doorbell wiring (trickle charge + optional chime support)

Ring states you can hardwire battery-powered doorbells to:

  • receive power / a trickle charge from compatible wiring/transformer, and

  • trigger a compatible in-home chime when pressed (with compatible setup).

Ring lists transformer requirements for Battery Doorbell Plus as 8–24 VAC, 50/60Hz, 5VA to 40VA when connecting to an existing doorbell system.

Plug-In Adapter option (no battery swapping)

If you prefer always-on power without using your existing chime wiring, Ring supports using a Ring Plug-In Adapter. Ring also notes that when using a plug-in adapter, you should set chime type to No chime / None in the app.

Solar option (compatible models + sunlight requirements)

Battery Doorbell Plus is listed as compatible with Solar Charger for Battery Doorbells (fork connector).
Ring notes that with 3–4 hours of direct sunlight per day, a solar charger can help keep a battery doorbell charged longer (placement and sun exposure matter).

Wi-Fi + Performance Requirements

Battery Doorbell Plus connects over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) (not 5GHz). Ring recommends at least 2.5 Mbps upload for optimal performance (minimum 1 Mbps).

If your doorbell location has weak Wi-Fi, you may see delayed notifications or reduced video performance—so strong signal at the front door is important.

Ring Subscriptions

What’s Free vs. What Requires a Plan

What you get without a subscription (free)

Ring states that Live View and responding to alerts as they happen still works without a subscription.

What you unlock with a Ring subscription

Ring states that reviewing recorded video requires a subscription, and cloud event videos can be stored up to 180 days (storage duration settings apply).
Ring also indicates Person/Package detection and Smart Alerts require a compatible subscription.

Subscription tier names (as of Jan 14, 2026)

Ring’s help docs state subscription plan naming changed on January 14, 2026, with tiers including Ring Solo, Ring Multi, and Ring AI Pro (and related options like Virtual Security Guard / Premium Legacy depending on prior plans).

Free trial

Ring states new compatible Ring devices include a free 30-day Ring Protect trial (unless your location is already covered).

Privacy, Security, & Warranty

  • Customizable privacy settings are included (privacy controls are managed in the Ring app).

  • Ring states Battery Doorbell Plus includes a one-year limited warranty and (per Ring help resources) theft protection.

  • Ring also states this device receives software security updates for at least four years after it’s bought new from Ring’s website.

  • Battery Doorbell (standard): lower resolution than Plus and different power design (not the removable pack)

This model is a strong fit if you want:

  • A wireless doorbell camera you can install fast (renters/homeowners)
